Eight killed, 30 injured as bus hits truck on Hazara Motorway
The passenger bus was travelling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi when it collided with a dumper truck near the Havelian Interchange early on Friday, rescue officials said.

At least eight people were killed and 30 others injured when a passenger bus collided with a dumper truck near the Havelian Interchange on the Hazara Motorway early on Friday, rescue officials said.
The bus was on its way from Gilgit to Rawalpindi, Dawn reported. Initial reports suggested that a tyre burst caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle before it struck the truck.
Rescue 1122 Abbottabad dispatched seven ambulances and a rescue vehicle to the scene for relief work. District officials led the operation at the site, according to the report.
The names of those killed and injured had not been released as of Friday morning. Dawn did not say which hospitals the wounded were taken to, or how many of them were in a serious condition.
Havelian is the interchange where traffic from the Hazara division joins the motorway running south towards Islamabad, and where vehicles coming down from Gilgit-Baltistan enter the same road. The motorway links Islamabad with Abbottabad and Mansehra.
The report did not give the number of people on board the bus, the speed of either vehicle, or the direction the dumper truck was moving in when the collision took place.
Fatal road accidents are common on the routes connecting Gilgit-Baltistan with the rest of the country, where buses cover long distances overnight and early in the morning.
