Pakistan and Tajikistan have concluded Dosti III, the third edition of their joint counter-terrorism exercise, at the Special Operations School in Cherat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the drills began on 26 October and ran for two weeks, according to Express News.

The exercise was built around the exchange of counter-terrorism experience between the two forces, operational drills and work on sharpening the procedures used in counter-terrorism operations. Troops from both sides also traded best practices, with the stated aim of raising combat skills.

In its statement, ISPR said the exercise reflected long-standing military cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan. It said the drills restated the commitment of both countries to further strengthening bilateral defence relations.

The Special Operations School at Cherat has hosted the earlier editions of the exercise, of which Dosti III is the third.

ISPR's statement did not give the number of troops taking part or the size of either contingent.

Pakistan's military holds a series of joint exercises with partner forces through the year, most of them focused on counter-terrorism and special operations training. The statement on Dosti III gave no further operational details beyond the training objectives.

How the reports differ

Express News carried the substance of the report: the venue at the Special Operations School in Cherat, the 26 October start date, the two-week duration and ISPR as the source. UrduPoint's report was available only as a headline and standfirst stating that the exercise reflected long-standing military cooperation between the two countries, with no body text to compare. Both outlets led on the conclusion of the exercise and the same framing of military cooperation.
