Pakistan warns Kabul as border firefight shuts Torkham for five hours
A military spokesman said the Afghan Taliban cannot bear the cost of harbouring terrorists and named India as the prime contractor behind attacks in Pakistan.

Pakistani and Afghan border forces exchanged fire at several points along the frontier on Sunday, and the Torkham crossing stayed shut for five hours after a firefight over a disputed check post, Dawn reported.
The Pakistani military warned Kabul that the Afghan Taliban would not be able to withstand the "punishment" Islamabad could inflict. A military spokesman said the Afghan Taliban "won't be able to bear the cost" of harbouring terrorists, and named India as the "prime contractor" behind terrorism in Pakistan. Dawn did not name the spokesman.
Dawn datelined its report from Khyber and Lower South Waziristan, both districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. No casualty figure for the exchange of fire appeared in the reports.
US Secretary of State Rubio said Washington shared Pakistan's concerns about attacks launched from Afghan soil and was open to playing a role in easing the tension, according to Dawn.
Tempo.co English also reported that tensions had flared again near Torkham. That report gave no account of the exchange itself, the closure of the crossing or the number of people held up on either side.
Torkham lies in Khyber district on the road from Peshawar to Jalalabad and is the busiest crossing between the two countries. Closures there halt trucks carrying trade goods and strand passengers, including Afghans travelling to Pakistan for treatment.
The reports described the clashes as persisting along the border on Sunday. Dawn's account put the firefight at a disputed check post but did not say which side shut the crossing or when traffic resumed.
