Seven girls' schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shut over staffing, security
Three outlets carried the same report, none naming the districts, the date of closure, or the official who ordered it

Seven girls' schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been closed, according to reports carried by three news outlets, which attribute the closures to a shortage of teachers and to security concerns.
The reports were published by the Indian news agency ANI, Lokmat Times and Big News Network under the same headline: "Teacher shortage, security fears shut seven girls' schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa." None of the three named the districts where the schools are located, the date the closures took effect, or the department or official that ordered them.
The reports did not say how many students are affected, whether the schools are government or privately run, whether the closures are temporary or permanent, or how many teaching posts are vacant. They did not say whether pupils have been moved to other schools, or whether the seven schools teach primary, middle or secondary grades.
Because the districts were not identified, it is not clear from the reports whether the closures are concentrated in one part of the province or spread across several. No statement from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa education department was carried, and no local official, school head or parents' representative was named.
Skardu Times could not independently confirm the closures or the reasons given for them.
If confirmed, the shutdown of seven schools would remove places where girls in the areas concerned can attend classes. The reports give no enrolment figures, so the number of pupils out of class cannot be established from them.
Schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are administered by the provincial education department in Peshawar. The reports available to this newspaper carried no comment from the department.
Teacher postings in the province's rural districts have been a recurring complaint of parents and school staff, though the reports on these seven closures did not link them to any specific posting dispute or to any named security incident.
