PSX investor base hits record 681,965 after October surge
Finance adviser Khurram Schezad says the exchange added 25,747 accounts in October 2026, 66 percent more than a year earlier.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Stock Exchange added 25,747 equity investors in October 2026, the largest monthly increase on record, lifting the total investor base to 681,965, Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schezad said.
The October rise was 66 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to the figures carried by the Associated Press of Pakistan in a report datelined Islamabad on Tuesday.
Over the first ten months of 2026 the exchange recorded 218,894 net new investors, APP reported. The wire said the January to October addition was larger than the net increase of the previous four years. Its published text was cut off at that comparison.
The count covers equity investors at the PSX, the country's main stock market. October's closing total is the highest figure the exchange has reported.
Schezad's numbers gave no breakdown of the new accounts by province, by individual or institutional holder, or by account size. The APP dispatch did not say where or before whom the adviser released them, and carried no October 2025 figure beyond the percentage comparison.
Investify, a second outlet carrying the story, headlined the base as nearing 700,000 rather than the annual growth rate. On the adviser's total, the exchange is 18,035 investors short of that mark.
The figures are the adviser's account as reported by APP and have not been independently verified.
