Supreme Court judge says his heart weeps for Balochistan
Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail told a farewell dinner in Quetta that peace would revive business activity and send people to the courts.

Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail of the Supreme Court said his heart wept tears of blood when he saw the situation in Balochistan, and told a farewell dinner in Quetta that it was worth asking how the city had reached the condition it is in now.
Express News reported that the dinner was organised in his honour by the Balochistan Bar Council and was attended by judges of the Supreme Court and the Balochistan High Court, along with a large number of lawyers.
Justice Mandokhail said his connection with Balochistan and with the lawyers of the province would always remain, according to the outlet. He said that as a judge the delivery of justice was his constitutional duty and obligation, and that he had tried to fulfil it.
He said it was a matter for serious thought why the present circumstances had arisen in Balochistan. If peace were established, business activity would revive and people would turn to the courts to resolve their problems, Express News quoted him as saying.
The judge said all relevant quarters would have to sit together and think seriously about bringing back the peaceful environment the province had in the past.
Express News carried the address under a standfirst saying that peace would restore business activity and that people would then bring their problems to the courts. UrduPoint's headline on the same event quoted him on the condition of Balochistan and asked how Quetta had reached "this situation", describing that as a question worthy of attention.
Neither report gave the date of the dinner or the full text of the address.
How the reports differ
UrduPoint's headline framed the justice's remark around Quetta, quoting him as asking how the city had reached "this situation" and calling that a question worth pondering. Express News reported the same passage as a question about why the present conditions had arisen in Balochistan as a whole, and led its standfirst on his comment that peace would restore business activity and send people to the courts. Express News also carried the fuller account of the address, including his description of justice as his constitutional duty and his call for all relevant quarters to sit together.
